Empower Sickle Cell Community is organizing a special day dedicated to the fight against sickle cell disease, which will take place in May 2025 in Dakar.
This day aims to:
- Encourage blood donation: Blood is a vital resource for individuals living with sickle cell disease. By donating blood, you help save lives and improve the quality of life for patients.
- Provide free screening: We will offer high school students the opportunity to know their genetic status regarding sickle cell disease. This initiative aims to raise awareness among young people about the importance of screening, especially before marriage, to help prevent the transmission of the disease.
- Raise awareness and foster dialogue: Interactive discussions will be held to address issues related to sickle cell disease, break taboos, and promote a better understanding of the condition.
